# Start and log a workout

> Start a programmed or freestyle workout and record sets in IronLedger.

You can start the next day in your active program or create an unplanned workout.

  <Step title="Start the session">
    Open the next scheduled day and tap the start action. For training outside your program, start a
    freestyle session and add exercises as needed.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter each set">
    Record the completed reps and weight. Add an effort value or note when it will help you
    interpret the session later.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Mark the set complete">
    Complete each set only after you perform it. IronLedger uses completed sets for workout totals
    and personal-record checks.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Finish the workout">
    Review the summary, optional session rating, and any detected personal records before saving.
  </Step>

## Offline logging

You can continue logging when connectivity is unavailable. Keep the app installed and signed in;
pending cloud changes are processed when connectivity returns.

  Avoid signing out or clearing app storage while offline changes are waiting to sync.
